Women over 55 are the fastest growing group facing homelessness in Australia. Between 2011 and 2016, homelessness among older women rose by 31%. By 2020, an estimated 405,000 older women were at risk and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Many are couch surfing, sleeping in cars, or crammed into overcrowded homes, invisible to official statistics.
This isn’t happening because they’ve done anything wrong. The market has simply failed them.
Women 4 Homes is building a future where affordable, sustainable and inclusive homes exist for every one who needs one.
We are starting with co-living homes designed to be beautiful, affordable and dignified spaces where older women can thrive. This is our proof of concept to show how women can come together to invest as a force for good.
